If you’d told me a few months prior to it happening that at 45 I’d lose my source of income, my marriage, and my savings all in one year, I wouldn’t have believed you. Yet, there I was: single, broke, and terrified with two young kids needing stability I wasn’t sure I could provide. I cried. A lot. I tried not to do it in front of the kids.
The weight of responsibility was overwhelming. I remember one night sitting on my kitchen floor after putting my children to bed, staring at an empty fridge and wondering how I would make it through the week. But after wiping away the tears, I knew I had a choice: stay stuck or start over.
